![]() ![]() The Goblin Wood was #6, and the first Sorahb book, Flame (later renamed Farsala: Fall of a Kingdom), will be #15. The next to sell, Navohar, was #12, and the next, A Matter of Profit, was #9. ![]() Songs of Power, the first novel I sold, was the 5th novel I'd written. What are you talking about? They're goblins, if you don't perform regular population control they end up stripping the countryside and doing more damage than the feral hogs are doing to Texas right now.As far as writing is concerned, I call myself the poster child for persistence. Sometimes the only difference between "exemplar of good" and "straight down evil" is window dressing. I didn't know bioth the green faith and the Talan nobility were straight down evil. First, they refused but after some accidental deaths in the woods (some treants were suspected but their alibi could never be broken), they negociated with the druids : they could keep on their sport but the only creture that they could hunt without threatening the natural balance was the goblin. The Green Faith druids protested and ordered to the taldan nobility to stop this sport. In 3702 AR, the ruler of Taldor and his court were very fond of Fox Hunting to the point that foxes were about to disappear from this part of the world. Goblin hate for dogs & horses is not so ancestral that most of you think. PS: Your theory is actually really awesome. I think it's also plausible that goblins are angry because those are definitely not chocolate brownies that the dog left on their front doorstep as they originally thought. Sound crazy? Then it must be true, because it's Lamashtu. What if the Mother of Monsters specifically created Goblins to exact revenge on dogs and horses for abandoning her? What if, long ago, the first horses and dogs defied Lamashtu as their new mistress/goddess? What if this betrayal provoked her wrath? Dogs and Horses are mostly tame animals, and are beloved of sentient beings for their loyalty and helpfulness. Since then, all beasts are hostile (wild) to civilized people. Lamashtu slew the old beast god and took his Animal Domain. Lamashtu birthed/created the goblin race. It does not come right out and say it, but here are the facts. I just got Inner Sea Gods, read up on Lamashtu, and put two and two together. ![]()
